WE HAD A GREAT TIME AT CAMBRIDGE YWCA 125TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT!

Marilynn Brass

October 13th was a red letter day for the Brass Sisters because they attended the 125th anniversary celebration of the Cambridge YWCA at the Royal Sonesta Boston Hotel.

This event also featured the Cambridge YWCA's Tribute to Outstanding Women. The women honored have made Cambridge the strong, loving place it continues to be.

Marilynn was also honored to be asked to talk about her experience of living at the Cambridge YWCA during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

A special surprise was the dessert which turned out to be Central Squares from our latest cookbook, Baking With The Brass Sisters. The Central Squares, a Lemon Square with an almond crust, sweetened cream cheese filling and a lemon curd topping, a home-baked recipe, was beautifully interpreted by the Pastry Chef at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The dessert was topped by a crispy Almond Tuile filled with fresh berries.

Thank you to Robin Lapidus who suggested that the Central Squares be served as a part of the celebration.

Thank you to Eva Martin Blythe, the Executive Director of the Cambridge YWCA, and members of the board, the staff, the volunteers, and Ryan Barton, Assistant Director of Banquets at the Royal Sonesta Boston for making us feel welcome!

We're attaching a photograph taken by Ryan Barton of the Pastry Chef at the Royal Sonesta Boston's interpretation of the Central Squares.
